June 18 - The Crab Shack

Some of the gators in the restaurant's pools
June 18 – Another week has come to an end. We both agreed that we won’t volunteer for 32 hours a week again. The max will be 20 – 24. It’s too tiring and here they have too many people scheduled at a time that you really have little to do and it gets really boring. Today I helped the bookstore people do some cleaning in the bookstore and repairing some jewelry.

Kelly's dinner, no she took some home for later

After work we changed clothes and went to The Crab Shack for dinner. It’s a huge place, VERY casual and the seafood is primarily boiled as in low country boil. Bill had chicken but I had The Crab Shack Combo for 1. It was huge, 5 kinds of seafood, sausage, a cobbette and potatoes. The crayfish and mussels didn’t take up much stomach room but the sausage and my large crab legs filled me up. I brought home my shrimp and snow crab legs. My family would have all enjoyed it. The tables have holes cut in the middle with a trash can under it so you just pitch your shells, etc as you eat. It’s a no frills place for sure. There are ponds of baby alligators you can feed and in the gift shop are birds. We didn’t get to that but Bill counted over 30 gators. I was craving some soft serve since I was really good all week, so we left Tybee Island and drove to Wilmington to the Wendy’s for a frosty but they now have frosty parfaits, so we each had one and it was so good and a great finish for our dinner.

Xena was ready for her walk once we gave her a flea treatment.  It was so hazy out you could barely make out the deer in the distance.  We think we’re going to a flea market in the morning so Bill didn’t last too long and I’m not far behind him.
