May
16 – It was a rough couple of weeks getting ready for the big trip, but we
managed to
get through it and on the road on the scheduled date. It pretty much came right down to the wire,
as we had an AC issue on the last day of our last campout, we had to get new
tires, it was time for the oil change and our warranty expired and we had to
get a new one. What a time it was, but
we managed to get it all done by yesterday and today Bill had one last doctor
appointment at 9:30. While he was there
I finished filling the fridge, cleaning the house fridge, tested the new alarm
system we installed on Wednesday (I bought it in December), did a last load of
laundry and tidied up as best I could!
Needless to say, we REALLY were happy to Get On The Road Again!
I
had set up the antenna so once we watched the last episode we came home and
watched the Leonard and Penny follow up and Young Sheldon. The time changed an hour and we were pooped
so it was technically 9 when we went to bed!
Nothing fancy but a nice small campground |
Other
than the love bugs, the first day of travel went well. We were excited since we were meeting our
friends, Jean and Paul, at Falling
Waters State
Park in the panhandle. They were much closer from Tallahassee so they were there first but Jean
made spaghetti for dinner and we watched the final episode of Big Bang
Theory. A couple that works with Paul
came also for 2 nights so we enjoyed visiting our first evening, AFTER poor
Bill had the pleasure of cleaning off the love bugs! The new ladder we ordered was back ordered
and is supposed to catch up with us in Harrison ,
MO. Luckily he could stand on the tailgate of the
truck and reach the high spots!
The
campground here at Falling Waters is small and on a hill. The sites are fairly level and lots of trees
and very well maintained. They have a
lot of trees down from the hurricane and we saw lots of remainders of the
devastation along I-10. So so sad!
