We were up early again to watch the balloons but it was a bit disappointing today. There were a lot of rain clouds and they kept moving so only about 50 balloons were able to go up. It was to be the character ones and we did get to see some that didn’t go up yesterday. There was Uncle Sam, the Chiquita banana lady that I had not seen but I also managed to get photos of some I wanted yesterday like the lighthouse and the giant cactus.
Once the balloons were done I made grits for me and eggs for Bill. We were set to leave when the Direct TV guy called and asked if he could come within the hour so we said OK. It worked out better so we could eat lunch at home instead of out. He got us all squared away with the TV issue. We bought a used satellite tripod from him which makes it easier to set the dish up level. After lunch we went to the Cottonwood Mall to a movie. That mall is huge, like Millenia and Florida Mall, a double decker. We went into the mall for a bit before the movie started and shopped at the Bath and Body Works. I had a couple of good coupons so we took advantage before they expire on Monday. The movie theater is double decked also and ours was upstairs. We saw “Life as we know it” with Katherine Heigel and as Kerry would say, Josh Do-me-now! No plot, no surprises but it had some pretty funny spots in it and Josh makes it all worth while, just to look at him! Whew!
On the way to the mall we stopped at a used book store that we spotted yesterday. Bill found 4 books so that will keep him going a little longer. I still have plenty to last me. He has a list of authors and I can’t keep up with 4.
This watching TV at 7 is a pain. Sometimes we don’t even have dinner over by then. Right now we have Direct TV on the big TV and the local channels on the antenna in the bedroom so we can get ABC, CBS and NBC so I didn’t get dinner ready til 7:45. We had chicken Cesar salad with the chicken Bill grilled last night. Then the fireworks started at the Fiesta and they were just as good as last night. Some new ones that they didn’t use last night. I put a peach crisp in the oven that we ate some of it at 10. This TV scheduling is getting complicated. Bill mapped out our trip home from Tucson. Now I need to start making the reservations as by then the “season” will have started and places will be full or no deals.
They are launching some balloons at midnight in a race across the country to NC. The winner gets to participate in a race in Europe. It was supposed to start sooner but they were waiting to get a clear weather signal from across the US. I hope I am awake to watch, but I don’t know. We will want to get up early again tomorrow to watch the launch. So will see if I last. Going to get down to 47 tonight so will turn the heat in the bedroom on when I go to bed.
The balloons are neat!
