July
10 – Work, work, work! Really was a good
day as all of the arrivals made it in before or at closing time! I’m getting much better on the new software
they are using. The weather was nice and
overall it was a great day!
July
11 – Off today and the sun was out and no wind!
So after a breakfast of fruit, sausage and toast, we headed out to wash
the RV.
Hard at it |
We
have very distinct jobs when it comes to the RV. The roof falls under my domain! Bill is not a height person, so ever since we
had the 5th Wheel, it’s been my job to wash the roof. Bill set up the hose and I decided to use my
house floor mop. In the past I have done
it on my hands and knees, but my back is not in any shape to do that now. I filled a spray bottle with RV wash and
water and grabbed my mop and up the ladder I went. Bill tossed up the
collapsible hose and I looped it around the antenna and I was on my way! It took about an hour to do it in sections
and do the awning toppers as well. The
full body slide topper was full of clay colored dirt/sand and it took some scrubbing
to loosen it. But, the sun stayed out
and the wind stayed calm and I got it all done.
Bill
took over with his pressure washer and got it all done but the front he will do
over with a ladder as it’s difficult to do the top where it curves. He’d been wanting to do it since we got here
but it was really too cold to deal with cold water spraying back at you.
After
lunch we each showered, dressed and went on an outing! We stopped at the post office since we missed
the pick up here and dropped off our mail.
Just a bit further down the road is Big Springs Loop Road and we drove it to
the end to see the springs and Johnny Sacks Cabin. We are waiting to visit it when Sharon and
Bruce get here. I know they will really
enjoy it! Then I’ll take some photos to
share.
In
the past we have visited the local small library but when we drove past before
it looked like it was no longer there. Yesterday
Bill saw the Book-Mobile parked next door and while signing up for his library
card and getting a book, he found out they were in the same area down the road
but in a different building, so we stopped in and he got 2 loaner books and we
bought 5-6 books in their sale area. You
can’t beat paying .25 for a paperback in new condition!

In
Ashton is Dave’s Jubilee where the prices are better than the stores closer to
us and we needed to pick up a few veggies and fruit so we stopped. The last time we were there it was packed but
today it was so nice and hardly anyone in the store. They had more rhubarb so I got another bag to
maybe make a cobbler and of course, freeze the rest. I brought the cooler and
ice pack so we didn’t have
to rush getting home. They have a small ice cream station beside
the deli and it was highly recommended that we try the Wilcoxxen Huckleberry
Fudge. We each ordered 1 scoop in a cup,
which was about 1 ½ c of ice cream. Umm,
umm, delicious! Need I say more?
The pass we take to get home |
On
the way back we stopped at a little thrift store and Bill found 2 more
paperbacks, not as good a deal but good!
It was getting close to dinner time so we stopped at Café Sabor for
Mexican.
We’ve eaten there several times
and the food has always been very good.
The special today was Burritos with a drink. I should have gotten that! Bill said it was excellent and it was almost
a foot wide. He brought part of it
home. I had the Pick 3 meal and ordered
a chicken enchilada and 2 tamales with a side salad. The salad was the best part! I was disappointed! The sauce had NO taste and Bill agreed. I ended up using his mild salsa. I brought home one tamale
that I’ll have for
lunch tomorrow with salsa (that I’m not supposed to have due to my hernia)!

By
the time we got home and parked the wind really picked up and big splats of
rain started. I could barely get the RV
door open with the wind. It lasted maybe
20 minutes and calmness presided.
It
has cooled off a lot and will have to close all the windows at bed time. Time to pick up my book for a while.
