September 14 – Things are
really winding down now. The weather is
heating up and “we’re not in Michigan
anymore”…. We left at 9 AM.
The people partying by the
RV last night were still there at 2 this morning when I had a coughing
jag. I was about 30 minutes of coughing
before I managed to calm down and go back to sleep. When we got up this morning the people were
gone and the trash was all picked up. It
was a mess at 2 AM.
This was to be a long
driving day and it was, 390 miles. We
normally aim at 350. We arrived at a
Sam’s outside of Macon
around 6:15. Later than we normally plan
but we stopped early for lunch at a rest area and I was so tired that I needed
a nap, so once I woke up we had lunch.
Traffic around Atlanta was terrible as
usual. We hit the city at the worst time
of day and since Sharon and Sam had warned us about the construction work on 75
going through Atlanta ,
we opted for the 285 Western bypass.
Traffic was still terrible but there was no construction issue. Once we got through there it was smooth
sailing on to Macon . Again we took the west bypass as there were 2
Wal-marts and a Sam’s and we figured we could stay at one. One Wal-mart said no when Bill called, the
second one never could get a manager to tell us so when he called Sam’s, it was
a go. We didn’t plan to do any shopping
so no problem.
This is our first Sam’s and
I hope some trucks come in as we’re not used to be the only ones in the lot.
I cooked pork chops, rice
and made salads for dinner. I also make
a Jello pie to share with our friends tomorrow night when we meet up.
