September
2 – Final day has finally arrived! It’s
both a sad and happy occasion for me. Not as much for Bill. I have loved being in
Michigan and enjoyed all of the places we’ve been and seen and that we were
able to visit with friends of Bill’s and our winter tenant, Rich , and his
wife. I’m glad to be done cleaning
bathrooms, except for my own, until at least May of 2019!
A
lot of the guests spent the day at Michigan Adventures so it was pretty
quiet. Jean told us this morning that
they were expecting it to be a slower more relaxing day. Sounded good to us, especially since we had
to move again. Today we went to the
space next to where we’ve been all summer.
Jean told Bill the spot was open for over a week if we wanted to stay on,
for free and not work. He told her we
had mapped out more of Michigan
to see in the next week. Paul and Kim
took the day off and didn’t reappear until about 9 PM. Good for them!
We
moved as soon as the folks vacated the spot and we don’t have anything outside
so the moving is much easier and makes tomorrow’s leaving faster also. Bill cleaned some fire pits today between our
bathroom duties. Boy, the sand was worse
than yesterday!
Jean
told us she wanted to have glow stick party at the playground tonight at 8:30
and wanted us to let everyone know. We
were also in charge of handing out the glow sticks, so we had to be at the
event. As we worked the campground for
trash pick up and cleaning duties we stopped at all sites where there were kids
and spread the word.
We
had leftover brats for dinner, fast and easy, with broccoli slaw. During our breaks we each did things to get
ready for leaving tomorrow. I wish I
could have done laundry! I did my
ironing and packed the back seat of the truck.
We were going to do something different with the bicycles and put stuff
in the back but decided not to take our bikes apart to lie flat as we will need
them at the Good Sam Rally in Michigan .
Bill
and I handed out glow sticks to the kids and since we had plenty, we gave them
to the parents also. It was kind of neat
with 50 or so kids with the different colors and the background was the lake
with the 3 aerators that change color. I
had stuck 2 glow sticks in my hair clip and a lot of the girls ended up putting
theirs in their hair. I’m a trend
setter! So, it was a success and
everyone seemed to enjoy it. I think
next year Jean will post the events for the weekend for the arrivals to know
what will be going on.
Once
we all got back to the office, Bill thought he would be doing pass lane but
then the thunder and lightening started and Jean told us to go home, our tour of
duty was over and we’d see her in the morning.
So we turned in our keys and drove our cart to the garage for the last
time. We hurried home on the bikes and
got in before the real rain storm hit.
Over
the last 2 days since we were doing some site clean up again, we found .77 that
made our grand total of “found” funds $2.79.
We also took our cans and bottles in to Meijers on one of our breaks
today and we got $8.30, bringing our can/bottle money to $156.50. We also filled up our bin today full of cans
and bottles that we’ll take in before we leave Michigan !
As
soon as we started watching our show, the weather got bad and we kept losing
the signal so we just gave up and read instead.
