April 9 - 18 Riverboating Down the Danube April 9 - The Flight Over

Well this trip was not a road trip and was not Bill and I, but I thought my friends and family might enjoy hearing about an adventure across the pond for a change of pace.

This time it was just my sister, Kerry, and I.  Three years ago she and I and 4 of our women friends went on a Rhine River Cruise with Gate1 Travel.  We all had the best time but unfortunately our former travel buddies, Cindy, Jean, Melissa and Carole could not make this trip with us.  Truly a bummer!  Kerry gets email notices from Gate 1 when they have deals as we Wallick girls are always looking for a deal.  So when we asked our buddies to go, it was kinda late notice for them to get their ducks in a row this time.

Our trip was to begin in Budapest, Hungary, which is a totally new country for us, so we decided to fly over a day early and do a bit of exploring on our own before joining the cruise.

Our first day was not terribly exciting.  We didn't have to leave for the airport until 6 pm as our flight was not until 8:30 pm.  We did have a couple of adventures though.  Kerry got scanned at security and we got on the wrong shuttle to the flight and had to go back to the main terminal and back out to our gate.   We boarded on time and were on our way.  They do feed you often on those overseas flights and the alcohol on Lufthansa was free so.....  The plane was a double decker but we were in the peon section downstairs.
